Environmental Science Hybrid Merit Badge – Stream-to-Screen Learning

Course Information

The Environmental Science Hybrid Merit Badge includes an online introductory meeting, online completion of specific merit badge requirements (including some at-home projects), and one day of in-person programming.

Diving In

Requirement 1.

Describe the meaning of environmental science.

Requirement 2.

Observe a nearby ecosystem and take notes.

Requirement 3(a).

Perform an experiment to test for particulates that contribute to air pollution.

Requirement 4(a).

Identify how your community sources and treats water.

Requirement 5(b).

Conduct an experiment to illustrate soil erosion by water.

Requirement 6(b).

Research one species that was endangered or threatened but that has now recovered.

Requirement 7(a).

Find and practice ways your family can help reduce pollution or conserve resources.

Requirement 8(a).

Learn about pollinators and pollination.

Requirement 9

Learn about two invasive species in your community.

Requirement 10.

Identify the items that would need to be included in an environmental impact statement.
